United Progress

Our Story

Who are we?

To best help you understand the reason why I founded United Progress, I should first introduce myself. My name is Arjun, and I'm a sophomore in college.

Back in 4th grade, my mom was diagnosed with schizophrenia. She went through treatment, got the all-clear, but things never quite went back to normal, and she was never the same. As the years passed, cracks began to form in my illusion of a perfect life. As her anosognosia became worse and her illness began returning, my mental and social health also declined. I lacked direction and had no real goals or aspirations for a time. Though my dad was able to discreetly go to a support group, it wasn't as easy for me to find a support system at first. I felt alone, and I didn't know what to do.

I was lucky enough to meet some wonderful friends who were there for me and showed me a path, but I know that not everyone is as fortunate. I didn't want anyone else to make the same mistakes I did, so in my senior year of high school, I founded United Progress.

Turns out, there are others who feel the same way as I did, and what was a small project blossomed into much more. We're here to be that support system for others that we wished for. It's not just an organization; I'd liken it to a group of friends helping each other out, listening to, helping, and mentoring others.

We're always looking for people to help us with our mission, so if you're interesting in joining us, feel free to sign up and get started. We'd love to have you on board.

I hope to see you soon!
